Twitter Wars:
Canadian Club and Chivas Regal Battle it out
By: Johnny Suchit
The ever so popular “hashtag” plays such an important and
key role in today’s society as the social media world has become the biggest
avenue for communication, purchasing and marketing for basically any product or
service you can think of. In the world of Whiskey however, I look at 2 popular
brands and how they make the most of social media platform Twitter. Canadian
Club’s (CC) handle has over 11,700 follows with over 3400 tweets tweeted using
consistent hashtag’s #whiskey, #fridayfeeling, #squadgoals and numerous others
get users to check out there tweets and see what there all about. From
promotion to user reviews on there products, over 1400 likes have been linked
to there page which indicates consistency with there tweets and updates.
Chivas Regal just like its Facebook page has the bold, dark
and professional look, this could highly be due to the fact that Chivas is a
high premium brand and targets to a more older demographic. Chivas still holds
on though with over 4800 followers and consistently tweeting with close to 2000
tweets and 825 likes. Chivas most recent tweet features a new commercial
looking at the different ethnic food dishes and ideas with Chivas being the
perfect match as a beverage. Something I would definitely try and encourage
others to do so as well. If I had to pick a preference for between these
whiskey’s, Chivas gets my vote here just for the inviting of new ideas and
overall satisfaction of the whiskey. Also wanted to point out that Chivas has a
disclaimer at the top of there handle saying to enjoy responsibly which I feel
is always welcomed.
